Fashion Designers help create the billions of dresses, suits, shoes, and other clothing and accessories purchased by costumers. Designers study fashion trends, sketch designs of clothing and accessories, select colors and fabrics, and oversee the final production of the designs. There are three types of fashion designs. Number one, there are clothing designers who design women's, men's, and children's apparel including casual wear, suits, sportswear, formalwear, outerwear, maternity, and intimate apparel. Number two, are footwear designers who help create and produce different styles of shoes and boots. Last but not least, are accessory designers who create items such as handbags, belts, scarves, hats, hosiery and eyewear.
For education fashion designers typically need an associate or a bachelor’s degree in fashion design. Some fashion designers also combine a fashion degree with business, marketing or fashion merchandising degree, especially those who want to run their own businesses. Salary ranges are from $72,560 to $59,560. It depends on what part of the "fashion crew" you are.
Out of all the main subjects, math, language arts, science and social studies math is used in this job. Math is used in my job because you need it to measure fabric. All you really need to prepare for this job is to have a creative and artistic personality.
